Kathy is a Fredericksburg artist working primarily in pastels. Largely self-taught, she has studied in various workshops in both oil and pastel and is especially influenced by Karen Margulis and Alain Picard. Her main goal in selecting a subject is to capture what makes her heart happy, and anything from the natural world will find a spot on her easel. Although pastels are her main focus, she has recently revisited oils, studying with C.S. Talley at his nocturne workshop, Guido Frick’s plein air workshop and Todd Williams’ recent workshop in Fredericksburg. Her main objective for increasing her work in oils is to expand her knowledge of composition and improve her observational skills, as well as cultivating her unique style and voice. Kathy exhibits at the Lee Bunch Gallery in her hometown of Del Rio, TX, as the “Artist of the Month,” and participates in DK’s Spring Fling and November art show annually.
