Caroline's love for art began when she was 12 and tagged along with her best friend to private art lessons with renowned south Texas artist Simon Michael. Uncertain about a career in art, she minored in it at North Texas State University and was a special education teacher for 26 years. Then in 1988 she returned to art, studying portraiture and still life with Kathleen Cook. She has also studied with nationally known landscape pastelists Bob Rohm, Susan Ogilvie and Richard McKinley as well as watercolorist Tom Lynch.
Living in the Hill Country and sailing Canyon Lake have inspired many of her landscapes, as have the Gulf Coast ,where she grew up, and the mountains of New Mexico. She delights in the versatility of pastels, her favorite medium, but also works in watercolor and acrylic. She believes that art is a mental snapshot of an artist's feelings, impressions and connections with colors, shapes, moods and places.
Caroline has won awards in Texas shows, and her work hangs in collections around the country and even abroad. She is represented by the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, the Hill Country Arts Foundation and the Fairy Moon Emporium in Kerrville. She has taught workshops at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center as well as private classes in Canyon Lake and Kerrville, and has done demonstrations for art clubs in New Braunfels, Marble Falls, Canyon Lake and San Antonio.
