Suzanne McComack

Looking for the moment of joy

The daughter of an artist, wife of a photographer, and a student of all things bright and beautiful, Suzanne spent the last 41 years of her career teaching art to children.  She feels that she learned more from her students than she ever taught them during all those years of teaching ages 4 to 84. Most of all, however, Suzanne believes that art is a bridge to joy. After all, God is the Creator of all and He engenders that happiness to make art in the creative process.

Suzanne is currently the president of Die Künstler. In her own art, she looks for the moment of joy: the sparkle of light on the rose, the glow in a boy’s eyes at the rodeo, the light breaking through the clouds. It is those heart-catching moments that inspire her to paint. Studying oil painting under Charles Field at the University of Texas in San Antonio she received a Bachelor’s of Art Education; after many years she achieved a Masters Degree in Art Education from Texas Tech University. She was privileged to also study pastels with virtuoso artist Kathleen Cook.  These experiences helped to distill the artist inside and gave her the tools to share the joy of making art. Suzanne holds deeply the belief that everyone is an artist inside who sometimes needs to be coaxed into blossoming! She says, “Go grab a pencil, a crayon, or a brush and begin to find your own artist within! Happy art making!”
