A lifelong painter, Leisa moved to the Hill Country from Minnesota in 2022. She works primarily in oils, with a focus on capturing light, and her eclectic background in medicine, fashion, theater and storm chasing informs her art. She admires Sargent, Sorolla, Monet, Klimt, and Henri. In Minnesota, she studied for six years with Kami Mendlik at the St. Croix School of Painting. For the last 10 years she has studied with
Camille Przewodek in the Colorist tradition of Henry Hensche, and she is currently a student
at the Texas Hill Country Atelier. Leisa paints both in studio and en plein air and has participated in many plein air events here in Texas and as far away as Bermuda.
Leisa has shown work in several galleries while in Minnesota, and has paintings in corporate and private collections. She has also done murals and faux finishes for private clients.
